So I’m sitting here reading scripture about what you’re supposed to do when you hurt someone and what about forgiving one another. We’re absolutely commanded to forgive each other Col. 3: 13, and if we have offended someone, we’re supposed to go them straightway, before we worship God even Matt 5:23-24.
So I’m wondering how do we do that if we don’t know if we have hurt someone…. do we constantly apologize just in case we offend someone? I’m not sure about that.
Do we have a responsibility to tell someone when they hurt us? Yes, that’s what Matt 18:15 says. Is that easy? No it’s not. It’s probably one of the most seemingly unnatural things for us to do. It goes against the grain of how we tend to respond. Holding a grudge is easier, or retaliate.
So it goes both way, ideally we should meet in the middle when there is a known offense…. it just usually doesn’t happen that way.
Consider these thoughts:
We are commanded to have joy Phil 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord; again, I will say rejoice!” and we are commanded to forgive Eph 4:32. – “forgiving each other just as Christ also has forgiven…”
So you offend me, I’m supposed to forgive you and be happy about it and vice versa … what’s up with that? How can that be?
“All scripture is inspired by God” II Tim 3:16 and “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness”, V17 “so that the man of God may be equipped for every good work”.
That’s it. It’s not complicated, one book, “the inspired word of God”.
Rev 22:18-19. We can’t change it, add to it or take away from it.
Obey God.
Love God.
Love our neighbors.
‘Looking forward…
